Paulina Dixon

Paulina Dixon is a freelance horn player and educator based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Prior to moving to North Texas, she held the position of Second Horn of the New Bedford Symphony and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra while maintaining an extensive career in the New England area.

Known for her versatility, Paulina’s orchestral experience includes frequent appearances as a substitute musician with the Boston Lyric Opera, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Hartford Symphony, Portland (ME) Symphony, and Cape Symphony, among others. Her career also extends to the Midwest, having performed with the Detroit Symphony, Toledo Symphony, and Detroit Chamber Winds. As a collaborative artist, she has performed with a variety of brass and woodwind chamber groups throughout the Northeast.

Paulina’s professional experience also extends to the theater pit and recording studio. Her theatrical credits include performances of Anastasia, The Sound of Music, and Oklahoma! in historic playhouses such as the Cape Playhouse and the Seacoast Repertory Theatre. Her discography features an upcoming release with the Enigma Chamber Opera, featuring Benjamin Britten’s rarely performed The Burning Fiery Furnace and Curlew River. 

As an educator, Mrs. Dixon has taught private students and coached ensemble sectionals across Texas, Michigan and Massachusetts. Her pedagogy focuses on fostering healthy physical habits and a positive, lifelong relationship with music. Her philosophy is informed by her own student experiences participating in the Texas All-State bands, Solo and Ensemble competitions, and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra.

Paulina holds degrees from Baylor University (BM) and the University of Michigan (MM). Her primary teachers include Adam Unsworth, Bryan Kennedy, Kristy Morell, Alton Adkins, Jeffrey Powers and Stuart Womble. When not on stage or teaching, she enjoys being active in her local church community, running with her husband, and cooking with friends and family.
